Yoga for Health & Healing

Established in 2001, Centred Self Yoga specialises in customised Yoga classes & Yoga Therapy programmes for individuals and small groups. Regardless of your level of experience, physical ability or state of health, Centred Self Yoga can design and teach you Yoga practices that are individualised to your specific needs, simple and accessible – meeting you where you are at and gently encouraging you forward to where you would like to be.

Yoga Therapy is a specialised modality of Yoga and a complementary therapy that can work very well in conjunction with any conventional medical treatments you may currently be undertaking for a health concern, and alongside recommendations from your Medical Doctor or Allied Health practitioner.

All services are offered in person at your home, workplace or community centre (service areas are the Eastern Suburbs of Sydney, Sydney CBD and surrounds). One-to-One sessions online via Zoom are also offered where required.

Sharon Elias

Owner & Principal Yoga Teacher/Therapist

Sharon is an internationally Certified Yoga Therapist, in addition to being a registered Senior Yoga Teacher with Yoga Australia. She has completed over 1,300+ hours of training and education in all aspects of Yoga, and has more than 20 years of experience in teaching and helping people towards improved health and wellbeing through the practice of Yoga.

She is highly experienced in the “Viniyoga” approach of teaching – where each person is recognised as unique individual and the Yoga adapted to suit the individual’s needs and abilities – rather than the individual to fit the Yoga.

Centred Self Yoga came into being in 2001 when Sharon began teaching group Yoga classes in diverse environments including corporate, health and community centres– which later branched out into private individual tuition, and one-to-one Yoga Therapy consultations.

In regards to Yoga Therapy, Sharon’s specific areas of experience currently include anxiety, depression, stress related disorders, chronic pain, lower back pain, frozen shoulder, knee rehabilitation, arthritis, ankylosing spondylitis, and breast cancer. She is also a Non-Registered NDIS Provider and holds a current NDIS Worker Check clearance.

Since closing the doors of her boutique Yoga centre in Kensington in 2019, all services are now being offered in person at your home, workplace or community centre (service areas are Eastern Suburbs of Sydney, Sydney CBD and surrounds), or online if required.

The following quote from TKV Desikachar is what inspires Sharon’s continued commitment to studies, personal practice, and teaching of Yoga:

“The mastery of Yoga must not be measured simply by the ability to master the techniques of Yoga like asana and pranayama, but how it influences our day to day living, how it enhances our relationships and how it promotes clarity and peace of mind”.
