Group Yoga Classes

Currently all of Centred Self Yoga group classes are offered in 9 week terms* with a maximum of only 8 participants in each class to allow space and personalisation to the extent possible within a group setting.

The classes are customised for the group and taught with clear instruction in a relaxed, friendly, supportive and non-competitive environment. You will be encouraged to work within your current capacity and then progress at your own individual pace.

Each class includes relaxation, conscious breathing (pranayama) and meditative practices to leave you feeling calm and centred.

Basic Yoga

Receive all the benefits of Yoga, while keeping things simplified without complex co-ordination required. Whether you want to take things easy or work more strongly, you will be encouraged to progress at your own pace. Ideal for those who prefer a slower pace with high level of instruction.

Over the 9 week term we will work progressively from week to week to:

  • Improve your overall strength & flexibility
  • Release tension, and induce physical/mental relaxation
  • Build confidence in your practice of Yoga postures
  • Learn to practice safely & effectively

Intermediate Yoga

These classes are suitable for those who are already experienced in the fundamentals of Yoga postures and breathing, require minimal instruction and understand how to adapt or modify the practice to suit their needs.

Over the 9 week term we will work progressively through a comprehensive Yoga practice developed to:

  • Maintain & Improve your strength & flexibility
  • Release tension, and induce physical/mental relaxation
  • Leave you feeling calmly energised in a positive state of mind

Not suitable for Beginners or those with less than 12 months recent continuous experience.

Gentle Yoga

These classes cater for those may have arthritic conditions, rehabilitating from illness/injury* or other health considerations that make attending regular group classes difficult.

Through simple Yoga practice, with the use of modifications and props where needed, we work progressively each week to:

  • Improve your mobility, flexibility, strength and stamina
  • Relax the body
  • Calm the mind
  • Classes are customised for the group needs, and aach participant is encouraged to work and progress to their individual level of capability within a supportive and friendly environment.

    *In some cases, a Private Yoga Session may be required to discuss/assess your challenge prior to attending group classes – and/or permission from your health care practitioner may be required.

* “Make-up” classes are possible, subject to availability.

** If your needs fall outside the above options, you may wish to consider One-to-One Class or Yoga Therapy (Individual or Group) as an alternative option or addition to group classes. If you are unsure, please get in touch to discuss.
